タ (ta) – Hiragana
– Pronounced as the Japanese ‘ta’. It sounds closest to the English word ‘ta’ as in ‘tar’.
た, in hiragana, or タ in katakana, is one of the Japanese kana, which each represent one mora. た originates from the Chinese character 太, while タ originates from 多.
Mnemonic 1: Imagine that the right part of this character is a cursed sword, and the left part is a hand holding it at the very edge of the handle using its fingertips. The wielder doesn’t want to become ‘tarnished’ by holding the sword properly.
Mnemonic 2: This symbol is very similar to the kanji meaning “evening”, a pictograph of a cresent moon. To get the right sound (i.e. tanight), say it with an accent of your choice
