た (ta) – Hiragana
– Pronounced as the Japanese ‘ta’. It sounds closest to the English word ‘ta’ as in ‘tar’.
た, in hiragana, or タ in katakana, is one of the Japanese kana, which each represent one mora. た originates from the Chinese character 太, while タ originates from 多.
Mnemonic 1: Imagine a man is about to pick up a can of coke that someone left for him. As he picks it up he says ‘ta’, short for ‘thanks a lot’ in English.
Mnemonic 2: A wire (vertical line) is being attached to a wall using three tacks. Only one has been fastened so far.
