さ (sa) – Hiragana
– Pronounced as the Japanese ‘sa’. Sounds closest to a stand alone English ‘s’ and ‘ah’ together – ‘sah’.
さ, in hiragana, or サ in katakana, is one of the Japanese kana, which each represent one mora. The shapes of these kana originate from 左 and 散, respectively.
Mnemonic 1: Imagine there’s someone with a French accent, jumping out of the ocean beneath him and yelling ‘Ca Va!’ (pronounced – ‘sa’)
Mnemonic 2: A man wearing a sash round his head. This is a closeup of his ear.
